FAQ

Common questions about DNP, agents, and the canvas model.

Answers to the questions we hear most. For the full FAQ, see the home page FAQ section.

General

What is DNP?

DNP is a visual workspace where people and coding agents build, review, and ship software together — on a single canvas, local by default.

Is DNP open source?

The desktop app is source-available. The canvas engine and block system are proprietary. We publish the protocol so anyone can build compatible tools.

What platforms are supported?

macOS on Apple Silicon (M1 and later) today. Intel Macs and Windows builds are not available yet.

Agents

Which agents work with DNP?

Claude Code and Codex CLI today. We are not a model provider — we run the CLIs you already have.

Do I need API keys?

No. You sign in to the CLIs on your machine. DNP never sees your credentials.

Can I use my own model / local LLM?

Not yet. The CLIs we support today are cloud-backed. Local model support is on the roadmap.

Data & privacy

Where is my data stored?

In the folder you choose when you create a canvas. Nowhere else unless you configure a sync target.

Does DNP send my code anywhere?

Only to the agent CLI you chose (Claude Code or Codex), and only the context you explicitly pass via the brief and connected blocks. See Security for the full policy.

Pricing

How much does DNP cost?

Free is $0 and available today. Pro ($20 a month or $200 a year) and Team ($40 per user a month or $400 per user a year) are waitlists. Enterprise is custom. See Pricing.

Do I pay for agent tokens through DNP?

No. You pay your provider (Anthropic, OpenAI) directly. DNP adds no markup.
