Agents setup

Configure Claude Code and Codex CLI for use in DNP.

Documentation menu

DNP does not host models or resell tokens. It runs the CLIs you already have installed on your machine. You bring your own plan (BYO) — DNP only provides the canvas and the orchestration.

Supported agents

  • Claude Code — Anthropic's coding agent. Requires an active Anthropic subscription.
  • Codex CLI — OpenAI's coding agent. Requires an active OpenAI subscription with Codex access.

Prerequisites

  • Install the CLI on your Mac: brew install claude-code or brew install codex (or follow the vendor's instructions).
  • Sign in with your account: claude-code auth login or codex auth login.
  • Verify it works: run claude-code --version or codex --version in Terminal.

Connecting to DNP

When you add an Agent block to a canvas, DNP detects available CLIs in your PATH. Choose the one you want from the dropdown. No API keys are entered into DNP — the CLI handles authentication.

Choosing a model

The model is selected inside the CLI itself (e.g., claude-code --model sonnet-4). DNP passes the task to the CLI; the CLI decides which model to use based on your configuration.

Costs

You pay the provider directly. DNP adds no markup, no metering, and no limits. A canvas run consumes tokens exactly as if you ran the CLI yourself.

Troubleshooting

  • Agent not detected: Ensure the CLI is in your PATH. Restart DNP after installing.
  • Auth failed: Run the CLI's login command again. Check your subscription status.
  • Run hangs: Open the agent's terminal pane on the canvas — the raw output is visible there.
